MLK LIBRARY MAYOR MARION BARRY JR. EXHIBIT
Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library celebrated its grand re-opening and multi-million dollar, three-year renovation in September 2020 with a new permanent fourth floor exhibit which acknowledged and celebrated the activism and impact of Marion S. Barry, DC’s Mayor for Life. The exhibit chronicles his humble beginning and his rise to being one of the most influential and visionary political leaders of his time. The exhibit is replete with memorabilia from international travel, photographs, and campaign and inaugural materials which span the decades of elected political office and includes a jacket covered with Barry campaign buttons donated to the exhibit by the late Ethel Lee Delaney.
